Start with how you sleep
Write down your usual sleep position, preferred feel, mattress size and spending limit. Bring that list to a showroom or use it to compare options online. Comfort is personal, so a return policy matters as much as a first impression.
Support is not the same as hardness
A medium-firm surface is a reasonable starting point for some people, but that does not make it a universal prescription. Your body size, sleep position and preferences still matter. Use research to ask better questions, rather than treating a firmness label as a promise.
